I currently design, write and edit training programs at a corporate level, which doesn't leave a ton of room for creativity :) I come from a family of writers and find inspiration in literature, film, television and music. I love to read; the written word envelopes me like nothing else. I also love to cook, work out, hang out with friends and family and live life to the fullest!

I have been published in several places; I have mostly written about women's issues, racial issues, social issues and the impact of history. However, I also love to write about film and television. I love taking in a good movie and I have to admit...I watch a lot of TV.

Until recently, I have always worked for non-profit organizations that seek to combat social injustice and make a difference in the world. While living in Seattle, I worked in HIV/AIDS prevention with young women of color at The Lifelong AIDS Alliance. During my time there, I worked with MTV and Levi's to produce the first-ever Seattle HIV Awareness Student's Forum. It was a huge event at The Experience Music Project and I had the pleasure of working with The Gates Foundation and the Sexuality Education Information Council of the United States.

After returning to my hometown of Minneapolis in 2003, worked with The Minnesota AIDS Project as a Case Manager for people living with HIV. That allowed me to really work one-on-one with people and I loved that. I also briefly worked for The Council on Crime and Justice, where I did research on racial disparities in the criminal justice system.

In 2005, I went to work for The Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault where I was able to blend my passion for research and writing on social issues with the concrete work of supporting sexual assault centers across the state. While there, I was a major contributor to the Minnesota State Sexual Assault Advocacy Manual. I also published several pieces in newsletters addressing issues of gender inequality and sexual assault.

I have a passion for doing that kind of work and although I am a technical writer for a corporation now, I fulfill that need by volunteering with various organizations. I am a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College (1998) and I'm a member of the American Society of Training and Development.

You can find my work in several places:
